And, You Thought Republicans Took Away Your Civil Rights!
Oh Yeah, The Patriot Act Violated Our Civil Rights! Check THIS out!
Wow.
Just as I was finishing up my Holiday cheer session and was getting back to letting my anger stew over Lord Falderal’s security foibles, (for those of you just joining us Lord Falderal is my euphemism for Obama) a good friend of mine turned me on to this little tidbit of info that flew under the media’s radar screen:
_____________________________________________________________________________
The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release
December 17, 2009
Executive Order — Amending Executive Order 12425
EXECUTIVE ORDER - – - – - – - AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER 12425 DESIGNATING INTERPOL AS A PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION ENTITLED TO ENJOY CERTAIN PRIVILEGES, EXEMPTIONS, AND IMMUNITIES
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (22 U.S.C. 288), and in order to extend the appropriate privileges, exemptions, and immunities to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), it is hereby ordered that Executive Order 12425 of June 16, 1983, as amended, is further amended by deleting from the first sentence the words “except those provided by Section 2(c), Section 3, Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6 of that Act” and the semicolon that immediately precedes them.
BARACK OBAMA
THE WHITE HOUSE, December 16, 2009.
_____________________________________________________________________________
That’s not from The Onion, or Fox News, nor is it an excerpt from a Rush Limbaugh broadcast; this little piece of civil rights crushing verbiage comes directly from the White House’s Official Website. Here it is if you want to fact check it:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/executive-order-amending-executive-order-12425
So, anyone hear about this yet? Probably, not. It was barely mentioned in any of those austere media outlets that were more than happy to jump all over the Patriot Act the second the toner dried on the White House Press Corp briefings.
One of the reasons you may not have heard of it is because Lord Falderal was basically signing this particular Executive Order with one step on the side rails of Marine One as he jettisoned himself to Hawaii for some body surfing and golf.
Far be it for me to deny even a slacker like Falderal, a nice vaca at the Holiday Season, however, it would seem to me this order would merit a little more coverage than some of his other Executive Orders such as: “Obama prohibits texting by Federal employees while driving to work”. That earth shattering Executive Order appeared in the New York Times on October 2, 2009. Good thing they reported that! Imagine the chaos had they not! And, to be fair, Bush could have won an extreme vacationing contest hands down. My point is that Falderal used the media hype of his Holiday to overshadow this ridiculous EO.
In case you’re not in the mood to go check exactly what Executive Order 12425 is, here is a down and dirty primer. Back in the 80’s President Reagan issued an executive order giving INTERPOL, the International Police Organization, the ability to operate on US soil with certain privileges. In fact, those privileges gave INTERPOL the same authority as our federal law enforcement agencies like the CIA, FBI and others.
However, the Order correctly and prudently bound INTERPOL to respecting the 4th Amendment search and seizure rights given to all American citizens under the Constitution, just like our American law enforcement organizations.
What Falderal has done is rescind the part of the Order that dictates INTERPOL respect our rights. In other words, INTERPOL can operate above the laws the CIA, FBI, DEA, HAS, etc, must abide by.
Here’s an example to drive it home:
Imagine if you will, somehow you wound up in a terrorist investigation. Maybe you were bouncing about the Internet and spent some time on an Al Qaeda website out of sheer curiosity and the FBI caught wind of it. Being the open kind of agency they are; they share that info with INTERPOL.
One sunny Tuesday afternoon a cadre of dark SUVs appear in the driveway of your suburban Cape. Out jumps an American FBI agent and a Yemeni Agent from INTERPOL. (Yemen is a member of INTERPOL) After politely ringing your doorbell, which of course plays the chorus of “God Bless America”, the FBI dude asks if he can search your house and take your hard drive down to the shop. After your initial panic wanes to a manageable terror, you ask if he has a warrant. For sake of argument, he doesn’t. You tell him to pound sand and close the door; already fingering the buttons of your iPhone and speed dialing your attorney.
Not so fast.
The Yemeni Agent walks right past you and starts tossing your Grandmother Biddy’s china around. He calmly walks over and has a look at your Internet browser and there is the website you spent two minutes on one night during a bout of insomnia.
Our Yemeni friend decides that’s enough to arrest you on, places you in cuffs and confiscates everything in your house including Biddy’s china. As you’re screaming at the FBI guy to help, he gives you a copy of Executive Order 12425. And, by the way, where you are going you won’t be playing tennis with Bernie Madoff. You will be begging for a good water-boarding session after they get done with your American butt.
Farfetched? Kind of, but not really. The players in my scenario are unlikely of course, but I think it illustrates the point rather well. Don’t kid yourself either, this kind of stuff does happen.
I honestly didn’t have a problem with the Patriot Act. You may say, but J, it’s the same thing you’re bitching about. No, it is not. The most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of is giving international law enforcement the right to operate in our country above our laws. Allowing our own law enforcement certain latitude when investigating known terrorists is certainly a horse of another color. I shouldn’t have to explain the obvious distinction here, if I do, you need to stop reading and go to the comics page of your local dying newspaper.
I really wonder what Falderal’s cult of personality supporters think of all this. Will they stay blind and stupid, or will they actually do something about it. Hopefully, they will see the light. Most of us who voted for Bush were able to admit we may have been wrong. But at least with that administration we enjoyed clear answers and clear follow through and not a bunch of useless drivel and rhetoric. Oh and at least they preserved our civil rights in as much as protecting us from foreign law enforcement.
My guess is this will fall down the same hole as the anti-war movement did. You know, like where are the protesters when Falderal ordered the extra 30,000 troops to Afghanistan? (After three months of mental masturbation) Why wasn’t Cindy Sheehan hanging out in Hawaii protesting the war to Falderal? I guess Crawford, TX was easier to get to.

Healthcare; Keep it Simple Stupid
I have had very few discussions on Health Care Reform with my friends and family, which is really weird considering it is such a hot button issue right now. Normally, I would spend hours upon hours arguing with my liberal and conservative brethren about an issue this big.
The reason I haven’t gotten into it is the perceived complexity of the issue. It’s fucking confusing.
As always the government has done what government will do; make something so big and lugubrious that it wears down the public into their basic theologies and they end up supporting whatever plan is being touted by denizens of their particular political persuasion. In other words, the complexity of the issue breeds sycophantic behavior.
I fall victim to this as well. It becomes simple to me; the Democrats are wrong and the Republicans are right because I don’t want to grapple with something beyond my simplistic way of thinking.
I think on a macro level when it comes to the Government of the United States and truthfully, I believe that is all I have to do as a citizen of this country. The details are there for others to work out. In this case, the morons we have elected into office.
My main point here is that the Health Care Reform issue is a very simple one. It is a matter of staying true to the ideals of this country. We are a capitalistic society. Our whole foundation operates on supply and demand principles. It is all of our jobs to straighten out health care.
As a people we need to make the health care industry accountable and responsible for their business. All aspects of health care is commercial and that is what we do here in this country; commerce. Doctors, insurance companies, hospitals, all healthcare providers are in business to make money and there is nothing wrong with that.
What is wrong is the manner in which they do it. I hate business regulation, but this is the one industry where I believe in heavily regulating what is allowed to stand as general practice. You want health care reform? Fine. The answer is to make these scumbag insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, material providers, pharmaceutical companies, et al, more accountable to us their customers.
The health care industry will react. We as the general public wrongly believe these businesses to be in total control. That is simply not true. We are in control, unless Lord Falderal and his cadre of misfits turn health care over to the Government. Then we are completely screwed. There are no longer any chances for us to do what we do; exist as a democratic capitalist republic.
What Lord Falderal is doing is using the easiest possible route to dangerously play around with changing our basic foundation from one of capitalism to socialism. If you think I am being radical and part of that scary arm of the right, you need to take a breath, brush all the fat, happy, and stupid faces of our President and legislature out of your mind and really think about. Think about it not as a Democrat or Republican, but as an American.
The minutiae of this issue are huge. There are so many things to detract from the larger picture. The emotional factor alone drives many to distraction. You hear about XYZ with a child who needs an operation, but there is no money and on and on and on. Yes, these are sad situations, but that is life and our forefathers have developed a system we have all chosen to live by. This will sound harsh but it is appropriate, if you are frustrated with our system in this country…leave.
Strip this issue down to the basics and the answer becomes very clear.
This is not about our well-being as citizens. This is about a lethargic, do nothing, tax and spend government only interested in securing their places in the annals of history as some sort of harbingers of radical change. Well, this is radical change we do not need and it could be our downfall.

There is a Special Place in Hell for Harry Reid
I have this really weird recurring dream. I am on a large sport fishing vessel somewhere in the Thimble Islands where I grew up. Mounted in the rear cockpit is the world’s largest skeet launcher. Loaded in the machine are not your usual clay pigeons but Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. I am positioned at the stern with a rocket launcher that is armed with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.
As I yell pull to the operator of the skeet machine who happens to be Abe Lincoln, Reid is catapulted through the air ass over tea kettle; glasses tossed into Long Island Sound and his plastered hair coming out of place and obscenely bouncing about. As I take aim and pull the trigger Limbaugh is rocketed at the target hitting Reid square in the abdomen, both men turning into a fine pink mist as somewhere a demonic minion opens up the gates of Hell and welcomes whatever it is that passes for their souls. Likewise goes the second shot as Beck hits Pelosi dead center and sends them to their new eternal home.
Usually I wake up from this dream doubting my sanity and feeling somewhat guilty for my subconscious’s apparent disrespect for life no matter how evil it may be. But, then I almost always end up reading a headline that goes something like this: REID LIKENS REPUBLICAN DETRACTORS FROM HEALTH CARE PLAN TO LAWMAKERS WHO BALKED AT ABOLISHING SLAVERY.
As stupid as my dream may seem to you and me, even more supremely stupid is this moron. Reid certainly has a long long laundry list of despicable deeds, but this one really takes the proverbial cake.
Are Congress people and Senators absolved from learning anything about US history? The way I read it, it was the Republicans that were the bastions of abolishment. I am pretty sure that is the way most people read it as well. To suggest otherwise just shows that not only does Reid need to be hit up side the head with a nice thick history book, he also should crack it open and read it. That is, if he can read.
Limousine liberals have this unique and quite amazing way of taking anyone’s accomplishments and assimilating them as their own. This is a phenomenon that seems to take place every time Democrats get a majority in the Houses. I remember hearing a State legislator once say that Abraham Lincoln really wasn’t a Republican at all (technically he wasn’t, he was a Whig) but was a Democrat and therefore it was Democrats who were really responsible for the Emancipation Proclamation because there was no way Republicans could possibly be for freeing slaves. Oh, really?
Were I a Democrat, (God forbid) I would be pretty pissed off at Reid too. I personally would like to see every racist residing in the same annals of Hell reserved for the likes of Reid and Pelosi, and I kind of assume that is how most reasonable people would feel. I think it is really interesting that Reid’s rhetoric congers up images of slavery whilst an African American holds the highest US office. Likewise, gaffe-meister Biden’s use of the hanging metaphor while introducing Lord Falderal (my new name for Barry is Lord Falderal) at the jobs conference last week. These are really disgusting and blatant attempts to get attention. Is there anyone who really wants to hear this shit, black, white, Democrat or Republican?
I have an idea Reid, you jackass, how about sticking to the issues for once. Your health care plan sucks. Try listening to the opposition and working something out. Twisting around history helps no one at all.
